Building a Positive Future

Our purpose: Building a Positive Future

Hydrogen is a key lever for decarbonizing mobility and addressing the most pressing environmental challenges. We have built an industrialization model that takes environmental and social criteria into account in every way we do business.

Consider our environmental footprint in all our processes.

SymphonHy: A benchmark site.

In 2023, we opened the largest site in Europe dedicated to the production of fuel cell stacks and systems in Saint-Fons. Designed and built entirely to meet Symbio's industrial needs for our fuel cell technology, the processes developed will serve as benchmarks for our future production sites. Named SymphonHy, this gigafactory is BREEAM "Very Good" certified for its high environmental and energy performance, thanks to:

  • photovoltaic panels,
  • a heat exchange loop integrating the heating network and the cooling circuit,
  • waste heat recovery systems at a rate of 10 million kWh/year,
  • a system for recovering electrical energy from the fuel cell test benches. This electricity will be reinjected onto the site for self-consumption,
  • an electrolyzer supplying our site with green hydrogen.

Considering the entire life cycle of our products.

Founded on the principles of the circular economy and eco-design, we have developed a comprehensive and rigorous methodology that compiles and evaluates all the potential impacts of our systems throughout their life cycle. Our approach takes into account waste reduction and recyclability, carbon footprint, water and air quality, biodiversity, and raw material sourcing.

We participate in several European initiatives (such as eGhost, SH2e, ECOPEM) aimed at developing a common benchmark for measuring the environmental impact of hydrogen systems.

Being a socially responsible company.

OneSymbio: our culture of collective success.

Each Symbioneer is a key player in the success of the Symbio project. We apply this keen sense of commitment and co-construction to our clients every day, supporting them at every stage of their projects. Our culture and actions are fueled by the best of both worlds:

  • The agility and creativity of the startup we were, a true driver of innovation that allows us to explore the full range of possibilities and act quickly,
  • The strength and operational efficiency of the industrial player we are, capable of large-scale production while ensuring compliance with the most demanding quality and safety standards.

Symbio Hydrogen Academy: supporting the development of skills in the hydrogen sector.

Symbio Hydrogen Academy was created in 2021 to train our teams and partners in hydrogen technology and its challenges. We welcome young people and job seekers, as well as professionals from the automotive and chemical industries, who are interested in discovering the potential of the hydrogen industry, particularly through our clients. Profiles range from operators to engineers to researchers.

We are co-developing training programs with French, German, Swiss, and American schools and universities. By the end of 2023, more than 1,100 people have completed courses on hydrogen safety and fuel cell technology.
