Building a Positive Future
Our purpose: helping to build a decarbonized future. This mission drives everything we do—from our industrial model (how we operate) to the products and solutions we deliver (what we manufacture).
SymphonHy: An Environmentally High-Performance Site
Located in Saint-Fons, our SymphonHy gigafactory is Europe’s largest integrated site dedicated to hydrogen fuel cell production. Designed and built to set an environmental benchmark, it ensures that our systems—used to decarbonize both mobility and stationary applications—are manufactured through environmentally responsible processes.
SymphonHy is rated “Very Good” under the BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method), the leading building sustainability assessment standard. This certification recognizes the quality of its energy infrastructure, including rooftop solar panels, a thermal loop connected to the heating network and cooling circuit, a waste heat recovery system (10 MWh/year), energy recovery and reinjection from on-site test benches, and an electrolyzer supplying the plant with green hydrogen.
Managing the Lifecycle of Our Systems
We have developed a rigorous methodology based on eco-design and circular economy principles to assess the environmental impact of our systems throughout their lifecycle. This approach integrates waste reduction and recyclability, carbon footprint, air and water quality, biodiversity preservation, and responsible sourcing of raw materials.
We actively contribute to European projects such as eGhost, SH2e, and ECOPEM, which aim to establish common standards for measuring the environmental impact of hydrogen technologies.
Symbio Hydrogen Academy: Shaping the Future of Our Industry
Founded in 2021, the Symbio Hydrogen Academy is the first initiative fully dedicated to developing skills in the hydrogen sector. It offers more than 80 innovative training modules, created in partnership with CARA Transport & Mobility Systems, Corys, ECAM LaSalle, Ineris Formation, LGM, Mines Paris – PSL, Sector Group, and Sherpa Engineering. This program is supported by the French Government and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region under the IFPAI Action, part of France 2030, operated by Banque des Territoires (Groupe Caisse des Dépôts).
We co-develop programs with leading French schools and universities and are expanding the initiative internationally—starting with the United States.
